Hair Guardian preserves your hair by protecting hair follicles from the damaging effects of chemotherapy by way of therapeutic cooling of the scalp during the chemotherapy session and for a brief time before and after the session. No other cooling times are required. This app requires a Hair Guardian system from InControl Biomedical LLC at www.incontrolbiomedical.com and an iOS Bluetooth low energy iOS device. It is a convenient, portable and affordable device managed by you, and can be used anywhere with little notice. With our product, one of the most distressing side effects of chemotherapy may be avoided. Of the over one million people with new cancer diagnoses annually in the U.S. approximately half will undergo chemotherapy for primary or adjunctive treatment. About 3/4 of chemotherapy regimens used will cause substantial or total hair loss. Years of research has shown low scalp temperatures can preserve hair during chemotherapy. Before you decide to use Hair Guardian, we encourage you to learn about scalp cooling and consult with your physician on the safety and suitability of your use. A prescription is required. Hair Guardian does not require any other specialized equipment, skilled nursing assistance, or extra time in the chemotherapy unit/hospital.
